Branding of NGO dedicated to Human Rights
Defending human rights effectively takes more than conviction — it takes a brand that reflects the seriousness of the cause. This is the story of how ASSEDEL, a Strasbourg-based NGO committed to human rights worldwide, went from scattered communications to a unified, credible presence across digital and institutional channels.
Significant efforts. Scattered communications.
“A cause this important deserves a brand that matches it.”
The European Association for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms works closely with the Council of Europe and the United Nations on critical issues — youth participation, women’s rights, refugee rights, environmental justice, and LGBT+ rights. They have contributed to European Court of Human Rights cases. The work is real. The stakes are high. What was missing was a communication system that reflected all of that.
Despite substantial advocacy work, ASSEDEL’s communications were fragmented across channels without a unified strategy or consistent visual identity. Each campaign started from scratch. The brand wasn’t recognisable — and the impact of ASSEDEL’s work wasn’t visible enough to the audiences who needed to see it.
A cause with weight.
A voice that needed one too.
ASSEDEL — the European Association for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms — works across some of the most consequential issues in human rights advocacy, in direct dialogue with the institutions that can act on them.
The brief wasn’t to make ASSEDEL look modern. It was to make the organisation instantly credible — to journalists, to donors, to MEPs — at every single touchpoint.

Events, Webinars & Advocacy
Educational workshops and the screening of a short film on violence against women — at the European Parliament — designed to turn attendees into advocates.
Numbers matter. But so does context.
The results of a human rights NGO’s communication strategy can’t be measured in clicks alone. A short film screened at the European Parliament. Hundreds of volunteers mobilised. A Patreon community built from scratch. These are proof the brand was working.

— Secretary General of ASSEDEL
Why brand identity matters for a cause-driven organisation.
For advocacy organisations, brand isn’t about aesthetics — it’s about credibility. When a journalist opens ASSEDEL’s newsletter, when a donor visits the website, when an MEP watches a screening in a parliamentary room: the brand either builds trust or undermines it. There is no neutral.
Logo & Visual Identity
A modern mark built to symbolise justice and equality, deployed consistently across every platform and material.
Social Media Presence
LinkedIn and Instagram built around editorial consistency — content that reflects the cause without losing its human dimension.
Print & Event Materials
Branded collateral extending the identity into every physical touchpoint — from invitations to event signage.
